November 2016

On the first of November, President Kohler and I had the opportunity to go to Budapest for a Mission President's Training Seminar.
Here we are with the Mission Presidents and Wives who all came out with us at the same time.
Then we headed to Zürich for stake conference.
Zürich Zone
Zürich Zone
Zürich Zone
Zürich Zone
Zürich Zone
Zürich Zone and Erika :)
That same day we got to attend a wonderful baptism in the Winterthur Ward.
The second week of November was our next transfer--we were blessed to receive 21 missionaries into the mission!
The next day they were excited and ready to head out to their first areas!
We said goodbye to 4 missionaries this time--good luck in all that lies ahead!
Munich Stake Conference was a wonderful time to see all of our missionaries in the Munich Zone.  Erika and I attended this conference while President Kohler hit the Stake Conferences in St. Gallen and Bern on that same weekend!
Then he interviewed and trained in Bern.
Elder Simon, who has been serving with us while he waited for his visa was finally ready to go--we were sad to send him off, but excited for what was ahead!
Back in Provo, our daughter Tosha (on the right) ran into two of our wonderful former Sisters!
We were happy to welcome Elder & Sister Stephensen to the mission--to serve with the Stuttgart Military Ward.
And we bid Elder & Sister Justesen farewell--they have been amazing!
President Kohler really depended upon Sister Gildner in our office to keep everything in order with the visas for all of our missionaries--it is a BIG responsibility!
MLC time again...training by the Assistants.
Our November Mission Leadership Council.
Then it was time for more interviews and training--with Stuttgart...
and more Stuttgart.
In Zürich...
and more Zürich.
At Thanksgiving time the Office Elders finally got their lederhosen picture with the President!
More interviews and training--with München Zone...
and the other half!
At the mission home, we started to prepare for Christmas.
and in the Office, Christmas packages were piling up...

It was the first Advent...and President was off again to interview in Wien and Salzburg to finish out the month.

October 2016

At the beginning of October we enjoyed another wonderful General Conference.  Our Munich missionaries gathered to watch it in our church building.  We enjoyed being with them :)
And then it was time for Mission Leadership Council again.
Our mission leaders practiced introducing the Book of Mormon to others so that they could then take it back to their zones and train them.
President Kohler visited Schwenningen and got to see Elders Melville & Ebert.
Sisters Gach and Gilmour from our ward taught us a great lesson on how to strengthen our family.
We also had our Senior Conference this month.
It was great to gather all our our senior couples together for a few days.
While we were with the seniors in Zollikofen we ran into Sisters Jensen & Selph!
We sure do love these amazing senior missionaries!
Also in Zollikofen we got to see Elders Manske & Clark.
And on the way home we got to see Elders Liechty & Gibson in Dornbirn.
It was Stake Conference time and our first one this month was in Salzburg.  Thanks Sisters Cullimore & Fogg for saving Erika a seat.
At the Sunday session Sisters Herycz & Puckett greeted us.
We love our Salzburg missionaries!
One evening this month President Kohler got to see an old mission companion of his!  Elder Näsmann from Finland came to visit with his family.  It was a great reunion.
We were very happy to receive Elder Fewou into the mission...
and Elder Mielacher...
and Elder & Sister North--all wonderful additions to the mission.
Our second stake conference for the month was in Wien.  Look at these handsome elders whom we saw crossing the street!
Elders Erickson & Mateer, our Wien Zone Leaders, were kind enough to escort Erika and me to the church to meet President Kohler after his meeting.
As we approached the church, we saw these wonderful faces!
We love our Wien missionaries.
And we even got to see a former Alpenländische missionary!
The next Sunday, President Kohler visited Schwamendingen, seeing Sisters Heller & Church, and Elders Harradine & Smith.
And Winterthur where he saw Elders Evans & Jensen, and Sisters LaFontaine & Barter.
Back in the office for staff meeting on Monday.  Sister Gildner worked hard to keep all of our missionaries legal with their visas, in the various countries where they serve.  Thank you!
And just an update on our son Tanner.  He is second from the right--currently serving in Romania.  We sure do love and miss him!
